Talks on Offer

We are now able to offer talks for interested groups and organisations:

Ringing Birds in Portugal

Peter has been ringing birds in Portugal with his family since he was a child and has returned every year since. Twenty five years on, Peter is heavily involved in ringing in Portugal and is involved in a number of projects including migration monitoring and species specific projects. Having ringed in the North, the South, the Alentejo coast, the Mondego Valley, Serra de Estrela and many places in between, Peter can draw on years of experience and photographs to bring you a feathery taste of Portugal.

Setting Up a Bird Observatory in Canada

In 2006 and 2007, Peter spent two years trying to set up a bird observatory on the shores of Lake Huron. Tentatively named the Ausable Bird Observatory, a migration monitoring program was operated in the spring and fall of both years. Whilst the Observatory is no longer in existance, this talk highlights the challenges of obtaining funding, challenging perceptions and integrating into the Canadian Migration Monitoring Network (CMMN) whilst also showing a wide selection of photos of the birds caught during 2006 and 2007.

All talks can be tailored to suit the needs of the audience. Contact for prices.
